Question and Answer Session was conducted during 13th lecture organized on 3rd June 2020 by the experts Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas and Dr. S. Mostafa Rasoolimanesh. Some of the questions remained unanswered during the lecture here are the replies to those questions:
Q1. What is the scope of higher education in hospitality during covid and post covid era from opportunities aboard?
Application of technology and online teaching and learning was practiced widely during COVID-19 outbreak period, and will continue probably in post COVID-19 era. This showed the importance of paradigm shift for education to be resilient and sustainable.
Q2. What is the strategy relating to revenue pertaining to catering sustainable tourism?
Sustainable tourism is maximizing the positive impacts and minimalizing the negative impacts for all stakeholders. Therefore, increasing revenue for businesses will be one of the priority, but by considering other important aspects such as social inclusion and environmental protections. Moreover, the previous studies showed, considering sustainability in businesses such as application of CSR can positively influence on their reputation, brand image and so increase their revenues.
Q3. Do you think it’s time to reshape the SDG’s amid the covid crisis?
We need to re-interpret and re-understand the connection between tourism and SDGs, not reshaping the SDGs.
Q4. What skills should we acquire pertaining to tourism and hospitality during this covid 19 era?
The skills to make the industry more sustainable and resilient, such as application of technology in different manners. These type of skills are compulsory for building sustainable future.
